Cover artwork for the first book in a fantasy trilogy by Robert V.S. Redick, published in the UK by Gollancz.
The publishers were pretty clear about what they wanted for this cover but I couldn't get it to work satisfactorily. When I sent them the finished image I also sent a sketch of the way I thought it should have been done. To my surprise they decided that my idea was an improvement and asked me to repaint the cover along those lines. The first image is also on the website under the title 'The Moon Pirates'.
