Ghosts and Grisly Things

I have a great deal of respect for Ramsey Campbell and was delighted to be approached to do this cover. I think of it as my 'convention painting'. I heard Ramsey read part of this story at a Fantasy Convention. A few years later I was asked to do the cover while at another Fantasy Con. I presented the rough at the next Convention and the book was launched at the next. The lift (elevator) is from one of the convention hotels.

When we decided to have an impromptu meeting about the cover in the hotel bar (where else?) I went up to my room to collect my rough drawing. As I walked along the dimly lit and deserted hotel corridor I quite distinctly heard a child's voice close over my left shoulder say "Hello". There was no one else in the corridor and no other sound from any of the rooms. Too much time hanging around with weird writers I suppose...
