The Bishop of Ximes

I promised myself to return to Clark Ashton Smith after painting The Garden of Adompha and this painting is loosely based on his story The Holiness of Azedarac. As this is a purely personal work I wanted to use the story as a kind of jumping off point rather than illustrate it too closely. It's quite a large painting at 41x22 inches and as I have another piece of board the same size it may acquire a companion piece in the future.
