The King Beyond the Gate

Commissioned by Century in 1985 for the novel by David Gemmell. Apart from the Conan books I would think this is one of my earliest out and out Fantasy covers aimed at adults. I'm attempting to be epic and simple at the same time. Today I'd feel the need to cram in a lot more detail but I think the simplicity made for a striking cover.
