The Mekon
Over the years there have been a number of attempts to make a movie of Dan Dare, the British comic hero of the 1950s. This was painted for one such project for Phenomenal Films, which actually looked as if it might go ahead. Eventually. of course, there was no film. A shame, as I would have liked to see this guy on screen. However when one of the producers told me that they were going to use an actor in makeup to play the Mekon I knew the project was doomed.
