The Necronomicon: The Call of Cthulhu

One of several full-page interior artworks for the new Gollancz edition of the H.P. Lovecraft collection Necronomicon: The Best Weird Fiction of H.P. Lovecraft, edited by Stephen Jones.

Nothing else is as associated with HP Lovecraft as Great Cthulhu so I had to draw him even though there have been a thousand different interpretations. I tried to make mine a bold and simple statement with just a soupcon of your cosmic horror.
