This painting was commissioned by Allen and Unwin for the cover of a novel by James Branch Cabell. A well meaning friend, who considered himself an expert in such things, remarked that I'd got the armour "all wrong" until I pointed out it was based on Henry VIII's suit of armour in the Tower of London.
