The Mask of Ilario

The cover for Ilario - The Lion's Eye, published by Gollancz, went through several incarnations before the final one. The mask was Mary Gentle's own idea and I think it's still the one that works best even though it never made it to the final book cover. N.B. The actual finished artwork just includes the diamond section of the image, without the textured background.
